India is all set for the biggest digital conference – India Mobile Congress 2017 (IMC). The three-day global digital technology event is scheduled for its first edition between September 27 and 29 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
The India Mobile Congress 2017 is designed on the lines of world’s biggest tech-event the Mobile World Congress (MWC) organized by GSMA every year in Barcelona. IMC 2017 will be one of its kind event and nothing to do with the global MWC event. It is expected to be the “biggest ever show of ICT” in the country according to Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI), the organisers of the India Mobile World Congress. The IMC event location will be rotated across Indian states over the years, subject to infrastructure availability.
The event will see participation of government bodies, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), handset manufacturers and ISPs among others. With just few days left for the India Mobile Congress to begin, the organisers have teased a bit about it as to what they can expect.
IMC 2017 is spread across an area of 22,000 sq mt and is expected to see more than 300 exhibitors, along with participation from more than 12 public sector units of India, seven government ministries, 8 Indian states, and several international companies.
Rajan Mathews, Director General of COAI was in Bengaluru last month for IMC 2017 Roadshow. The city known as the “silicon valley of India” is home to a large number of technology startups, IT companies and R&D centers.

India Mobile Congress will also provide a platform to Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNOs) to showcase the road ahead along with major focus on Virtual Reality. Thought leaders will speak on Smart Networks and also discuss the possibilities for Aadhaar for public governance.
IT giant Google and Indian telecom company RJio, have already confirmed their participation as principal title partners. MNCs such as Qualcomm are set to make a host of announcements at the event. Deloitte is the event knowledge partner.
The conference line-up includes 28 sessions on various topics ranging from emerging technologies such as block chain to smart cities, to women in technology business and policy & regulatory.
