These days internet frauds have become biggest threat to all those who browse internet. Sometimes even tech brilliants get struck in the trap of the Hackers/data thieves. Personally, I have seen more than tons of hacking activities over internet. Here are few simple steps to stay safer while browsing online.
Check for Secured Connection
When you are browsing through an important website which contains important data, Check for the secure tag over the top left corner of your browser (Google chrome, Firefox, IE etc.). Enter your credentials only if you can find that tag.
If you think just by seeing that you will be secured you are wrong.!! But Still there are also many chances of you getting into the traps of hackers because now a days SSL certification is automated and just by paying Rs. 200 anyone can buy an SSL certificate. But these kinds of tricks are mainly used in Banking sectors. So to be safer check again the domain. Go through your internet banking slip for the perfect URL. But if you don’t have one there is still a option. In banking sector, The banks will get secure tag along with the banks name. So check for not only secure tag but also the Secured tag which shows the banks name.
Make Use of Antivirus Programs
Antivirus programs can find 90-99% of the attacks done on the existing system while connected to internet. It is the best option if you are going to do important money transfers, check your shares and any important data transfer.
Use On-Screen Keyboards
Now a days key loggers have become the biggest threat. Key Loggers are the kind of software which can record the keys pressed on keyboard with the time and can send it to the scammers. So to avoid that use On-Screen Key boards provided by websites.
Never Work on Public Networks or Free Wi-Fi
Most of the scammers/hackers target public Wi-Fi to fetch the important data. So no matter how important that task may be never do that over public network.
Even most of the office/Private networks are under control by most of the hacking groups so if you want to do any kind of transactions , Use VPNs they provide the secured network for users. They can be of paid or free. Many VPNs provide free services what users just have to watch a 20 second ad just before using it.
Never Use Public Computer
You won’t be knowing whether his/hers computer is full of viruses and malware’s so beware and newer use any computer unless you are familiar with that computer.
Use Strong Passwords
Hence in India it’s very common that people use phone numbers, names as the part of password. But this is a very bad habit. Use a password at least contains 16characters. Include at least one caps letter, Special characters numbers. Never use any password generators because most of the software generators store it as a dictionary. Example for a Strong password: shl0@KA420(840)Ajsdp
